24.4.20 Starlings Class Blog - Friday
Date: 24th Apr 2020 @ 8:25am
Good morning to my super Starlings, HAPPY FRIDAY!
I can’t quite believe that it is Friday already, this week has gone so fast. Each Friday evening, I compete in an online quiz with lots of my friends. I have never really enjoyed going to a quiz before but it is something that has really brought my friends and I back together during lockdown. Have you had a video catch up with your friends recently? Would you like to join in with a Friday Quiz? Here is a link to an addition quiz, remember to use your 100 square, number line and objects around the house to help you to solve each problem.

I have found a fantastic Art lesson on the Oakview National Academy website today, linking perfectly to the Art challenge that I set for you on our weekly timetable. This lesson focuses on creating a piece of work inspired by an artist called Andy Goldsworthy. Can you use natural materials to create your own rainbow? Can we fill our Twitter feed with beautiful rainbows?
Here are two of my favourite songs about rainbows. Why not Tweet yourself singing along?
Your maths lesson for today could be focused on the natural materials you have found in your garden. You could count how many items you have in total or solve addition and subtraction problems using what you found.
If I add my green items and my white items, how many would I have altogether? What would my number sentence be? You could also sort the items by colour, size, shape etc.
____ green + _____ brown = _________ 10 green leaves – 4 green leaves = _____
Please remember to tweet me photos of you being busy and having fun. It doesn't have to be photos about school work, it could be you playing out, baking, reading, dancing, relaxing etc. I would love to see photos of you all.
Have lots of fun today Starlings and have a wonderful weekend. I will speak to you again on Monday.
Love
Miss Gillam
Message from Mrs Powell
“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind, and the third is to be kind.” – Henry James
What have you done that is kind? What could you do today that is kind? Could you take a picture and put it on Twitter so we can all be kind like you.
Remember what you are doing is amazing and we are so proud of you. If you can, have a hot chocolate today. If not, have a cup of anything you like to drink and remember how very special we think you are!
“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”
