Headteacher's Welcome
Children are at the heart of everything we do and Christ is the light that guides us.
Hello, I'm Mrs Powell and I'm the Headteacher at Lostock Gralam Church of England Primary School.
I am very proud to welcome you to Lostock where children are at the heart of everything we do and Christ is the light that guides us! Lostock is a school where every decision we make is based on the impact it will have on our children and often with their voice. From our new fish tanks to our play areas, to where we go on school trips, to what the staff wear on world book day, our children have their say. They know their voice matters and relish when they are listened too. We take great pride in being part of their journey and giving them the opportunities to be the best they can be whatever path that might be!
At Lostock, we look at the whole child as we acknowledge that life is not always easy. We offer mental health support and any support a family may need to thrive in our challenging world. Our curriculum looks at our locality, advocacy and opens our children’s eyes to the wonderful world they are living in, while giving them a love of books we hope will last a lifetime. We focus on making memories, we want our children to experience every opportunity while they are with us. The staff who work here feel strongly about putting children at the heart of all their actions and we teach our children that like the sunflower that thrives when it turns to face the light, it is the Christian light that guides our path.
Enjoy our website but please come and see us for yourself and see how we can be part of your families journey!

"There is a strong sense of community at the school. Pupils feel safe. They said that their friends and the staff , look after them well. Leaders support pupils social, emotional and mental health needs effectively. They ensure that the school's vision to put children at the heart of everything is lived out on a daily basis." (Ofsted March 2022)
"Leaders have built an ambitious curriculum. They provide pupils with many opportunities to learn about the school s locality. Leaders have designed the curriculum carefully so that pupils extend their vocabulary in each subject. Staff teach pupils new knowledge in well ordered steps as they move through the school. Most pupils , including children in the early years achieve well." (Ofsted March 2022)
"Classrooms are calm. This allows pupils to do their best in lessons. Teachers high expectations for behaviour are clear from the start children join the school in the Reception class. Pupils behave well. They said that their teachers act quickly and successfully to resolve any bullying." (Ofsted March 2022)
