Good morning!
Happy Friday Starlings!
Wow, it is the end of your first week of learning from home. I have woken up feeling very positive and grateful this morning that we are all able to stay at home and keep ourselves safe during this strange time. I hope that you are all happy, smiley and having lots of fun at home. The sun is out AGAIN! I wonder what adventures you will have today?
Please continue once again to follow our attached timetable. Hopefully this is starting to feel like more of a routine for you now.
I have a little challenge for you today. Can you make your own counting in 2s, 5s and 10s game? By the end of Year One the children are expected to be able to count in multiples of 2, 5 and 10 quickly and from different starting points. For example
10 12 14 ___ ___ ___
They are also expected to be able to count in 2s five times. 2 4 6 8 10. Count in 10s eight times 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 etc.
To develop fluency in counting, please find ways to develop speed and accuracy through play. Why not try jumping, skipping, bouncing a ball, touching your toes, spinning around in a circle?
Here are some games to help you:

Oxford Owl have just released new RWI books on the website so over the weekend maybe you could have a read with your grown up.
I have attached a document that helps to explain what is happening to little people and ways to help manage feelings and emotions. It is quite a lengthy document but you could maybe start to have a little look through together. If you are feeling a little bit sad or fed up, this Resilience Toolkit will hopefully give you lots of positive ways you can look after your mind and brain during our time off school.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via email or Twitter.
Have a fabulous day Starlings,
With lots of love from
Miss Gillam
PS: Chester Zoo are opening their 'virtual gates' today. Take a look and find out more about your favourite animals.

Good morning children! This morning I want you to think about how special and unique you are, talk to someone in your house about all the special qualities that make you unique. What about the people you live with, what makes them special, why don’t you tell them!
