27.4.20 Starlings Class Blog -Monday
Date: 26th Apr 2020 @ 8:01pm
Hello Starlings,
I hope you are all keeping well and have had a lovely weekend. I had a busy weekend of catch up phone calls, exercise and garden games with my family. It is amazing how quickly the weekend goes by even when I can’t get out and about.
Once again, I have attached a new timetable for you to follow this week with new tasks and projects to complete – remember this is only a suggested timetable and activities are always optional! Just do what you can, when you can.
I know lots of you are now running out of resources in your packs that we printed out for you in school. Please do not worry about this. We are so lucky that there are now so many more online resources available for free to help the children to continue their learning journey whilst being home schooled. Although many online lessons have printable resources, it is not expected that you print these at home. Recording answers and copying out questions onto a piece of paper or into your exercise book is more than good enough.
Please continue to aim for one activity out of each box below each day. This may not happen every day and that is absolutely fine! Your child's mental health is much more important than a home learning task.

- I love the writing lesson on the BBC Bitesize home learning page today. It is all about forming letters correctly, something that we all need to master by the end of year one. It then goes on to teaching the children all about alliteration. The really rapid race reminded me of a race we learnt about at the Museum of Science and History. Can your Starling tell you about ‘The Big Bike Race’? Can you tell you about Hans Renold and the invention of the chain?

- Again on the BBC Bitesize website is a fantastic maths activity based on ordinal numbers. We use ordinal numbers to describe which order things come in. Ordinal numbers are words like:
- 1st - first
- 2nd - second
- 3rd - third
- 4th - fourth
- 5th - fifth
- 6th - sixth
and so on...
Please use the link below to access some lovely teaching videos and activities based on ordinal numbers. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zhw8d6f
Thank you all for your continued hard work and support. If you need anything at all, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Love from Miss Gillam

When you listen to a brilliant story or read a great book, do you think about the characters and imagine you are doing those exciting things? What would it like to be Harry Potter, to go through the Gruffalo wood or visit Narnia?
