Skylarks W.B. 29.03.21
Date: 25th Mar 2021 @ 10:14am
Hello everyone and welcome back to Skylarks weekly blog 😊
We have had another fantastic week in Skylarks class. I am so proud of how hard the children are working!
Next week in English, we will be using our plans from this week to write our own story beginning and build up. We will be focusing on building tension and developing characterisation through our vocabulary choice.
In maths, we will continue to focus on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, as well as continuing to practice long multiplication.
In RE, we will start our new topic about ‘Humanism’. We will begin by asking our own questions about Humanism, before finding out about the 5 main themes by listening to the story ‘Here we are’ by Oliver Jeffers.
In Science, we will be recording our results from last week’s investigation where we tested the solubility of different materials. We will present our results using a bar chart and develop our conclusion writing skills.
On Thursday, we will celebrate World Book Day with a variety of fun reading tasks. Children are invited to come to school in their pyjamas on this day 😊
Our PE days this half term are Thursday and Friday. Your child should come to school in their PE kit on these days.
Homework
Maths homework will resume after the Easter holidays.
Please encourage your child to read and practice their spellings/times tables for 5-10 minutes every day.
Our spellings for the quiz on Thursday 1st April will be the next 10 words from the Year 5/6 statutory word list:
competition, conscience, conscious, controversy, convenience, correspond, criticise, curiosity, definite, desperate
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
