Weekly Blog
21st May 2021
Hello Starlings and welcome back to our weekly class blog.
After another fantastic week in Starlings class, we wanted to share what we have learnt this week and what we are looking forward to next week.
English
In writing we have completed our writing unit inspired by our class text ‘The Curious Case of the Missing Mammoth’. We used the plans we wrote last week to write a story which uses the same structure as our class text, but included our own animals and setting in the story.
Next week we will learn all about poetry and we will be writing our own poems.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been working hard to subtract within 20. We have learned all about crossing tens when subtracting which was quite tricky but we tried hard and think we have cracked it!
Next week we will practise our addition and subtraction facts to 20 and solve some word and picture problems to test out learning!
History
In History this week we continued our learning on inventions and transport. We used ipads to help us to find out more with the use of a “padlet”, it was so much fun! We learned all about different inventions and then we found out about the inventor George Stephenson and made posters to celebrate our learning.
PSHE
In PSHE this week we began our P4C work and discussed some “big questions”. Did you manage to continue the discussion at home? We hope the lovely stickers helped you to do so!
