Weekly Blog
28th May 2021
Hello Starlings and welcome back to our final weekly blog of this half term.
After another fantastic week in Starlings class, we wanted to share what we have learnt this week and what we are looking forward to next half term.
English
This week our writing was inspired by our Creepy Crawly Show! We wrote a recount of the day the creepy crawlies visited our class, and we wrote our own poems in the style of “We Can” by Michael Rosen.
After half term we will begin a new unit of work based on the book ‘Toys in Space’ by Mini Grey.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been working hard on our addition and subtraction facts within 20. We compared addition and subtraction facts using the symbols <, > and =.
After half term our maths work will focus on numbers to 50, then numbers to 100.
Creepy Crawly Show
Wow, what a fantastic experience this week when the Creepy Crawly show visited school. All of the children were incredibly brave and they showed our school rules of ready, respectful, safe beautifully.
We loved learning about, looking at and touching a tarantula, 2 species of snake, a cockroach, a gecko, and even a tenrec. That’s a relative of the humble hedgehog!
It was a truly amazing day.

Next half term, we will be learning about Neil Armstrong and the moon landing in History. In Geography we will learn all about the local area of Lostock, and in Science we will be learning about materials.
