Hello and welcome back to Swallows class blog!
Swallows have had yet another wonderful week of super learning, making Mrs Elson and Miss Gillam proud every single day. We loved designing and describing our own trolls in our Writing lessons, using playdough to explore materials in Science, playing a new song on the ukulele in our Music lesson and much much more! We are such busy, SUPER learners.
Thank you so much for taking the time to enjoy sharing stories with your Swallow at home this week. The children will continue to bring home a Read Write Inc book, a book bag book and a bedtime story each week. This provides them with a variety of familiar, new and challenging texts to read. Bedtime story books are to be enjoyed with an adult. Reading TO the children ensures that they experience the magic of a story coming to life and have a purpose and love of reading.

Next week
Maths – Our Maths work will continue to focus on place value next week. We will compare and order numbers to 100 and count in multiples of 2, 5, 10 and 3. Having a little count at home will prepare you for this!
English – Our English work will continue to focus on the wonderful story ‘Troll Swap’ this week. We will explore character, write letters and write our own diary entries.
Read Write Inc – Swallows we continue with their Read Write Inc learning this week, focusing on a brand new story. They will bring home new books each Friday. We look forward to completing our first spelling quiz tomorrow too!
Homework
Reading – Please spend 10 – 20 minutes reading each day. This can be a combination of Read Write Inc and bedtime story books. Please remember the importance of your child listening to YOU read during this time too.
Spellings – During the Autumn term our spellings will be focused on the Year Two Common Exception words. These are words that the children will come across frequently in both their reading and writing. We will complete a spelling quiz in class every Friday. Please use your spelling whiteboard to help you to learn your spellings each week. We will write your child's score in their diary next each week. This will be written next to the spellings they have been tested on that day. This will be on the page from the previous week's page.

Maths - In preparation for learning our times tables, please continue to learn how to count in sequences of 2, 5, 10 and 3. Here is a link to a lovely counting rap to help you. Enjoy ?
