Good morning Toucans.
I hope you are all keeping well and have now got into the routine of home learning. If you have not done so already can you, please check in with us on our class discussion on School Spider. Today we are launching a Fitness Challenge that many children throughout Cheshire are getting involved in this half term. Please see below under PE for more details.
Maths
SHAPE – Imperial Units of Length See the Power point attached. Our home learning maths lessons will be guided by a recording of Mrs Whittingham’s voice, which will explain what to do (Just click on the little speaker icon on the power point page). I have also included the answers on the last slide so no peaking until you have had a go at answering the questions yourself!

Writing
Poetry- See the Power point attached. Like the maths, Mrs Downing has recorded the instructions so just click on the audio button to hear what to do.

Reading
Toucans, we would love you to read a little each day of the school book you have or a book you have been reading at home. Remember you can also read First News.
If you continue to record your reading in your diary and get an adult to sign your diary each time you read, you will still be able to collect your raffle tickets when we are back in school.
Spellings
This week we will be looking at the ‘sh’ sound spelt si or ssi.
We will focus on these 3 words today - explosion, tension, collision
Write each word out 3 times in your best handwriting.
Circle the si or ssi in each word.
Can you identify the root word in each spelling and compose a sentence with it?

Fitness Challenge - Are you fit for 2021?
Here is a fitness challenge that we would like everyone to take up and start today.
Can you do 20mins or over of continuous movement and 21 mins or over of continuous exercise every day?
Please see the attached poster for details.
There is also a record sheet to fill in.
You may not be able to participate every day but every day counts so do what you can.
The challenge finishes on the 22nd February.
Who will be our top scorer in each class? Across the whole school? Against other primary children in our sports partnership?
