Toucans Home Learning 7 1 21

Date: 7th Jan 2021 @ 7:03am

Thursday 7th January 2021

Good morning Toucans.

I hope you all managed to get your home learning completed yesterday and were not hindered by some of our ICT issues. Hopefully, today will run more smoothly.

Thank you to everyone who engaged with the chat on our discussion page on school spider. It was lovely to hear how you were getting on with your work. Keep up the great effort and remember that we are so proud of our diligent Toucans.

  Maths

SHAPE – Reasoning about 3D shapes See the Power point attached. Our home learning maths lessons will be guided by a recording of Mrs Whittingham’s voice, which will explain what to do (Just click on the little speaker icon on the power point page). I have also included the answers on the last slide so no peaking until you have had a go at answering the questions yourself!

Please watch this video if you can’t access the audio on the PowerPoint

Before you start today’s Maths lesson, could you collect some 3D shapes from around your house. Can you name the shapes and describe their properties? E.g. how many faces has your shape got? Are the faces flat or curved?

Also try this game where you have to name and describe 2D and 3D shapes. Make sure you read the instructions on how to play the game.

  Times Tables

Recap all your times tables using TTRockstars   https://ttrockstars.com/   Where can you get to on the leader board today?

 Writing

Poetry- See the Power point attached. Like the maths, Mrs Downing has recorded the instructions so just click on the audio button to hear what to do.

Here is the YouTube video if needed - https://youtu.be/SXbdXDPZfbE

  Reading

Toucans, we would love you to read a little each day of the school book you have or a book you have been reading at home.

If you continue to record your reading in your diary and get an adult to sign your diary each time you read, you will still be able to collect your raffle tickets when we are back in school.

Spellings

Have a go at reading, saying in a sentence and spelling words with the ‘sh’ sound spelt ‘ti’ or ‘ci’. Maybe I could see some more examples of beautiful handwriting today.

Today’s word:         explanation

Other words:            especially, direction, appreciate, competition, ancient, cautious, delicious, motion, spacious

(I will add a specific word each day and suggest a test or practising all the spellings on Friday)

Story

(this has been recorded and embedded into our Writing Power Points – enjoy listening to another war poem read by Mrs Whittingham)

Have a great day everyone. Remember to use the Discussion page on School Spider to chat to us about your work today.

Best wishes from Mrs Downing, Mrs Whittingham and Mr Beswick.
