Buenas Dias Swallows
Happy Hot ChoFriday! We have the weekend, half term ahead of us and hopefully some sunny weather to enjoy, aren't we lucky? To celebrate Hot Choc Fri this week, the staff have put together a little video of the poem called The Great Realisation. The poem explains all of the good things that have come out of lock down. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/ms3Y8qC9zWw
Some more great lessons for you today, a super art lesson about shadows too, take a look!

I thought that Friday's videos should always be a poem, so I have found a poem that I used to read at my old school over in Manchester quite a lot, I love this one. Just listen to all of the things the teacher tells this child to do. Imagine if I said those things, you would think I was crazy!! (Maybe you already do!!!) He he he!
Here is the link to my video where I read this to you. I am sorry about my terrible camera skills!

This boy Derek Drew
Keeps copying my work, Miss.
What shall I do?
Go and sit in the hall, dear.
Go and sit in the sink.
Take your books on the roof, my lamb.
Do whatever you think.
Please Mrs Butler
This boy Derek Drew
Keeps taking my rubber, Miss.
What shall I do?
Keep it in your hand, dear.
Hide it up your vest.
Swallow it if you like, my love.
Do what you think best.
Please Mrs Butler
This boy Derek Drew
Keeps calling me rude names, Miss.
What shall I do?
Lock yourself in the cupboard, dear.
Run away to sea.
Do whatever you can, my flower.
But don’t ask me!
Did you enjoy that? If you did, here is a link to the BBC site where a famous dancer that you may recognise reads the poem to you plus one other by Allan Ahlberg. There are some follow up activities for you here as well. This is aimed at Y3 children however I think that you are all super stars so will be able to complete these tasks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zb2k8xs
I wonder how you have got on with your 10 spellings this week? Maybe you could have a "quizie quiz" like we do in school and ask your grown ups to check them for you. I have attached some great ways of practising your spellings at home. I won't give you any over the half tern holiday, I will put 10 more on my blog the first week after the holidays.
A couple of years ago, a sports personality, Jenna Downing visited us in school to share her story of becoming a professional skater. She was due to return to school to tell us what she is doing now and to show us some videos of her excellent talent however because we are all at home, she couldn't come. So, she has done an assembly with Mr Russell who comes into school to teach PE. Take a look, it is really interesting.
Our No Outsiders story for today is We’re all wonders by R.J Palacio.
Here is link to the story being read https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhD5ZKH_Fy4
This story shows our No Outsiders message beautifully. We know that we are all different, special and unique and that is what makes us us. We are all fabulous in our own way and it is brilliant that we all look different. I have also attached some activities linked to this story.
Have a fabulous day Swallows, keep smiling. Remember that you are just great the way that you are. Each and every one of you brings something different to our classroom and that is what makes it a happy place to be. YOU ARE ALL WONDERS!
Love from Mrs Rice and Mrs Elson xxx
