24.3.20 Starlings
Date: 24th Mar 2020 @ 8:45am
Good morning Starlings,
I hope you had a brilliant day yesterday and enjoyed getting stuck into your packs. I am quite sure we will have some very proud parents, amazed by your lovely listening and ‘thinking brains’. Perhaps you could set up your own little recognition board today? Will you focus on good looking, good listening, brain thinking or super tidying!
At school, Read Write Inc is an important part of our daily routine. The children love the repetitive nature of the program and like that they can feel success in each and every session. I have attached a guide for how to access some fantastic phonic resources, including live RWI Speed sound lessons being recorded daily. Included in this document is an idea of which speed sound session your Starling should be watching. The group colours are based on what colour reading book your child is taking home from school. I have also attached a document showing you some useful apps/websites with a guide of how to use them. I hope they will be of some use to you.
Oxford Owl is a website school subscribes to and I have set up a username and password so that you can access all the free online reading books at home.

Please continue to follow the attached timetable, this week is all about establishing new routines and learning how to make home learning work for you and your family. Don’t worry if things don’t always go to plan, there is always tomorrow.
I hope you are enjoying learning new things and spending extra time with your most special people. I have decided to start jogging, completing the ‘Couch to 5k’ app on my phone. I have also set myself a skipping challenge. My current record is 18 seconds without tripping over. I have also made my own bath bombs AND had many cuddles from my cats, Paddy and Bella.
Keep yourselves busy, try new things and keep smiling.
With lots of love from
Miss Gillam

Dear children,
We have all started on a strange adventure, I wonder what we will learn to do over the next few months? I think you will find that your parents are the best teachers! Enjoy any activity you do for the first time, we are going to make bread in my house!
