Worship
"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."
(Genesis 2:15)
Our new Christian Value is RESPECT. Look again at the 17 Global Goals below and think about how we can respect our own homes, gardens, parks and local area.

Please click on the link to watch Mrs. Powell’s worship video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXAJvJZHekE&feature=youtu.be
Reflection
Talk to your family about the Global Goals and think about what small actions you could take at home. There is a blank puzzle piece document attached below for you to have a go at making your own.
For example: Mrs Evans’ family are no longer using plastic food bags and cling film. They are on a mission to make sure they turn off the lights in the rooms they are not using and they go for walks and runs locally so they don’t use the car.
Fitness Challenge
Why not try a Joe Wicks workout today, see if you can beat a brother or sister, or even one of your grown ups!

Good luck, enjoy your day, and have a very happy and safe weekend!

Friday 8th January
Good morning Starlings and welcome back to another day of home learning. We have nearly made it to the end of our first week of home learning. Thank you SO much to you all for trying so hard and for letting us know how you are getting on. We are so proud of you and miss you so much! Parents, we are even more proud of you and we know from experience how difficult it is to juggle everything at the moment. Thank you so much for your patience and your dedication. It means so much to us all.

I will be online between normal school hours again today to chat with you and see your wonderful learning on the class discussion page so please share your work. Any problems please either let me know on the discussion page or email admin@lostockgralam.cheshire.sch.uk and we will do our very best to resolve these straight away.

Thursday 7th January
Good morning Starlings and welcome back to another day of home learning. Thank you for working so hard yesterday and for joining in with the discussion on school spider, Mrs. Judge told me all about the fantastic work you all did and we are so proud of you.
Today we have responded to your feedback and hopefully addressed some technical issues from yesterday! We have saved our lesson presentations in both standard powerpoint and mp4 video format to hopefully ensure you can hear our audio. We changed the font to make it easier to read too.
As with yesterday, we would like you to focus your home learning on maths, phonics and writing today. There is a spelling task at the end of the writing lesson.
Today we have also included a story so please share this with us as reading stories together is such a valued part of our day!
I will be online between ordinary school hours today to chat with you and see your wonderful learning on the class discussion page so please share your work. Any problems please either let me know on the discussion page or email admin@lostockgralam.cheshire.sch.uk and we will do our very best to resolve these straight away.
Missing you all so much! Stay safe and have fun.

To make things slightly easier (we hope) today we have put the RWI phonics work on a separate powerpoint with links that should hopefully take you directly to the RWI channel on youtube. Please only access these links after 9:30am as they won't have been updated to a new lesson until that time!
Red group – you need to look out for set 1 videos
Green group you need to look out for set 2 videos
Pink, yellow and blue groups you need to look out for set 3 videos.
There are some audio instructions from the real RWI experts, Miss. Gillam and Mrs. Campion, to help you. Please feedback any difficulties you are having and let us know how you get on with your phonics learning today!

Today’s lesson is a follow on from yesterday’s introduction to our Little Red Riding Hood work. There is no need to print anything off although the children will be using images from the story to order and retell the main events so if you would prefer to have these printed then please feel free to do so.

Wednesday 6th January 2021
Good Morning Starlings,
It was so lovely to see all the children’s happy faces on Monday and we will really miss seeing them and we were sad not to be able to say a proper goodbye. However, we must keep your children safe so we are moving to an exciting new way of home learning today. Everyday a new class discussion will be opened and this is where feedback will be given, where you can ask us any questions and upload any work completed. Mrs Judge will be responding during school hours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Mrs O’Marah on Thursdays and Fridays. If you ever have any problems, questions or issues (for example the audio clips on Power point) you can also always contact the office directly. We will also be ringing you at some point to see how you are getting on with home learning.
Please do not worry about printing any of the tasks off – any of these activities can be done on paper.
It just leaves us to say a huge thank you for our very gorgeous and generous Christmas gifts. We will miss your children very much.
Mrs Judge, Mrs O’Marah, Mrs Esling and Mrs Southern
Please see below for instructions and links:
,
Maths
Money – Please see the Power point attached. Our home learning maths lessons will be guided by a recording of my voice which will explain what to do (like I do each day in class). Just click on the little speaker icon on the power point page to hear the instructions.
See if you can collect some coins from around the house to help you (raid your money box or ask an adult first before you empty their purse though!)
Writing
Little Red Riding Hood – Please see the Power point attached. Like the maths, instructions have been recorded so just click on the audio button to hear what to do.
RWI - Phonics
Your child should have received a new sticker and bookmark in their homework diaries yesterday so you will know which RWI group they are in. If you are unsure, please email the office and we will let you know. Please follow the link of your child’s colour in the English Power point. This will take you to a RWI video of the sound of the day, red words (our tricky words which we can’t sound out) and a ‘hold a sentence’ activity all of which the video will talk through.
Obviously we’d love for the children to read as much as possible for pleasure and I’m sure they’d love to cuddle up and hear a story from any grownups or siblings in the house too.

Hello Starlings and welcome to this week's blog
What a fun, festive week we have had in school! We have enjoyed watching the Christmas panto, made Christmas crafts, written Christmas poems, feasted on Christmas dinner and modelled our Christmas jumpers.
For our last worship of the term, we shared our hopes and dreams for the new year together and wrote these onto guiding stars. Most of the children wished for parents and carers to be able to visit school for class worship, for bubbles to be able to mix and for the virus to go away. How thoughtful and reflective!
We have also completed some Read, Write, Inc assessments so we will have some new groups in the new year. A sticker will be put into diaries with information about changes in groups in the first week back.
Meanwhile, in phonics our groups have worked hard on the following this week:
Pink group
Book: 'In the night'
Sounds focus: ure, tion
Orange group
Book: 'Look out!'
Sounds focus: ure, tion
Yellow group
Book: 'The Duckchick'
Sounds focus: o_e, u_e
Green group
Book: 'Pip's Pizza'
Sounds focus: oo, oo, ar
Red group
Book 'A Cat in a Pot'
Sounds focus: special friends ng, nk, th
We have sent the phonics books home but this is all we would like you to do over the holiday. Christmas is such a special time and our little starlings will be big toucans in the blink of an eye so enjoy every moment of your time together and make special memories. We can't wait to hear all about it!
We cannot thank you enough for the support you have given at home this term. It means so much to us and is having a great impact on the children.
Thank you also for the kind and thoughtful gifts you have given to us. We are so very grateful.
Please enjoy a happy, safe and healthy Christmas together. We will look forward to seeing you in 2021!
With best wishes,
Mrs. Southern, Mrs. O'Marah, Mrs. Judge and Mrs. Esling

Hello lovely Starlings and welcome to this week's blog.
What another fun, festive week we have had! We absolutely loved watching the KS1 and KS2 Christmas performances in class this week, we hope you have enjoyed watching them at home too! Luckily for us, the festive fun didn't end there, we made some Christmas decorations out of recycled materials for Lostock Friends, continued with our 12 days of fitness, and took part in the whole-school Rudolf run!
In English we have finished writing our diary entries to finish our work on Nibbles the Book Monster, and we were so happy to learn that there's a new Nibbles book which we enjoyed in class.
In Maths we have continued with some of our addition work using part, part whole.

We cannot believe how quickly our first term has gone and despite all the tricky changes we could not be prouder of the children we are so privileged to teach!
