Date: 19th Apr 2020 @ 3:09pm

Hi everyone,

I hope you got on well yesterday with trying to get into the home learning routine again. Just keep reminding yourselves that you are all doing a great job in such a rare situation.

Today, continue working through the pages in your booklets for maths learning on decimals. It would be useful for you to spend a bit of time recapping some of the learning that you have already done. For example, looking back at addition and subtraction questions. In this blog I will attach a document that has some reasoning questions practicing addition and subtractions. Please have a go at doing some of these in your work book. Do a few a day before completing your maths learning on decimals.

Today’s riddle: What gets wetter as it dries?

Yesterday’s answer: Candle

Message from Mrs Powell:

What could you read today?  It could be singing songs or reading something about a sport you love; things to read are everywhere.  Go on - read anything!

Date: 19th Apr 2020 @ 3:07pm

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a relaxing couple of weeks off and are all looking after yourselves. Hasn’t the weather been so kind to us? I hope you have all managed to spend time outside in your garden or completing your daily exercise. Today would have been the day you would have been returning to school for the Summer term and I am very sad that we are still not all together yet, but I am still hopeful that it will not be long until we are reunited.

It has been lovely to see all the different learning you have been doing at home with your families and I am sure you are all showing your parents and siblings what fantastic learners you all are.

For today you should ease yourselves back into your home learning. I would like you to spend the morning looking at your timestables and going on times tables rockstars or completing your packs of flash cards. Complete some reading and share what you have been reading with a family member.

Please see the weekly timetable attached to this blog along with other documents that may be useful to you this week.

I know that it is getting very difficult and still feeling strange not being able to see certain family members and friends but it is very important that we still follow these guidelines. I am also missing my family and friends. I am beginning to create a list of what things I want to do when this all blows over. Could you create your own list maybe?

In my previous blogs I gave you a riddle each day to complete and I will continue to do so.

Today’s riddle: “I’m tall when I’m young and I’m short when I’m old. What am I?”

Message from Mrs Powell:

What have you learnt from someone around you? On our daily walk, I found out that my daughter is an expert on windfarms. What could you learn from someone?  What could you teach someone?

Buenas Dias Swallows

I hope that you have all had a lovely, relaxing Easter holidays and enjoyed the fabulous weather that we have been blessed with. The boys and I have been in the garden lots and making friends wiht horses on our bike rides each day. Mrs Elson and I are missing you more and more. We just can not wait to see your little faces again. I have put lots of writing and maths on the website for your grown ups to help you with. If you click on the 'home learning' pages under 'classes' there are some great writing ideas for Y2 that Thomas and I have been exploring. I have also popped some maths there called I See Reasoning. There are lots and lots of tasks on there to be getting on with, you will enjoy those as they are really visual. Ask your grown ups to print them out for you. Or you could keep learning your 2,5 and 10 times tables today. Rememebr to use the division facts as well.

I have also uploaded some cooking with maths ideas onto that page. Here is one that I thought you might like to try. Maybe you could tweet me the photos?

Edible dominoes

Make edible dominoes using this recipe from Sainsbury’s https://recipes.sainsburys.co.uk/recipes/baking/domino-biscuits You will need to weigh with grams and measure volume with tablespoons. 1 tablespoon is 15ml, can you convert the amount of milk into ml? What about if you made a double batch? Can you double the other ingredients too? You have to roll out the dough until it is 3mm thick. Use a ruler to check.

Last of all cook them for 10 minutes. If you put the dominoes in at 3:30 what time would they be ready? What would that time look like on an analogue clock? Young children need to practise subitising (instantly recognising the number of objects in a small group without counting them) so put the smarties into a variety of arrangements on the biscuits instead of sticking to the classic dice formations in the picture. Ask older children to think systematically. If you had a different colour for each number, how many of one colour would you need for all the dominoes with a 6 on? With a 5 on? Etc. Can you use one answer to calculate the next answer more quickly? How?

Play classic dominoes to practise number recognition and matching. Play again but this time, instead of matching numbers, place dominoes touching so that the total where they touch is always 6? Can you make a list of all the possible combinations in order? Add the numbers on each domino and sort them by total. Can older children work out how many dominoes there will be for each total before checking practically. What if the dominoes could have 7 or 8 on them?

Have fun with this my lovely Swallows. Abrazos (hugs) xxxxxx

Hello my lovely Owls!

Hope you have had all had a wonderful Easter break. Hasn't the weather been amazing? We have spent so much time in the garden and Leo is becoming quite a bug expert! We are missing you all so so much and I am looking forward to you sharing all of your lovely things on Tapestry again.

Over the holidays, our caterpillars turned into butterflies and we are hoping to release them today. I will try and get a video to show you.

Grown ups-I have put together a few ideas for the week.I have had a little play and tried to put it all in one document as best as I can rather than lots of different documents. I hope this makes things easier to find.

For Maths, I have put some ideas linked to patterns. (I have attached a document below with some ideas- I couldn't fit them all on the other page!). I have also included a link to the White Rose Maths website it has some lovely videos and ideas linked to the story Supertato! (We love this story in my house!) https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/  Please don't feel you have to do it all/any of it! You may just want to dip in and out of different things that you think your child will like and enjoy. I have put all the links for RWI for your child's group on Tapestry.

As always, these are just ideas to maybe help fill your day but if you do not do them please do not worry at all and remember play, play, play. Playing and talking is so so important for our little ones.

Everyone being safe and happy is our main priority. You are all doing a fantastic job. If you need anything at all please let us know.

Love Mrs Campion and Mrs Hoskins. x

Easter Holidays Week 2, by Mrs Campion

Date: 13th Apr 2020 @ 8:48am

Happy Easter Owls class. Hope you have had a fantastic first week and that the Easter bunny managed to visit with some yummy treats.

Hasn't the weather been wonderful! We have spent most of the week playing in the garden.

This week, continue to have some rest and enjoy spending time with your family doing what you enjoy. If you want to do some little bits I have attached a document with some ideas or do some daily reading. Have you explored the Oxford Owl website yet?

Leo and I have really enjoyed 'The Odd Egg' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyathRuiwBY. Here is a link to the story. Afterwards, he enjoyed decoarting his own hard boiled egg and looking after it. Maybe you would like to do this?

I hope you have a lovely week and we will catch up again soon.

Stay safe and have fun;

Date: 12th Apr 2020 @ 3:39pm

Easter Break Home Learning

I hope you have enjoyed your first week of the Easter holidays.

Again, here are some ideas for home learning ideas that you could do over week 2!

Week 2

Reading

Continue with some form of daily reading – you reading to your child, your child reading to you or whole-family reading time! Maybe try listen to David Walliam’s books this week on https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/. Every day at 11am, you can listen one of David Walliams’ World’s Worst Children stories, so sit down, take a break, and enjoy 20ish minutes of pure fun!

Easter Project

Activities you could have a go at this week:

  • Make an Easter card for your family or friends using colour to show the symbolic meaning of the story. Use bright, happy colours to represent the happiness that Jesus came back to life and a small amount of dark colour (a cross possibly) to show the sadness from the story too.
  • Watch the Easter story on YouTube and make a cartoon style story board.
  • Decorate a hardboiled egg with an Easter theme.
  • Write an Easter prayer thanking God for Jesus life.
  • Make an Easter garden. Use the following link for inspiration: https://request.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/REquest-Easter-Garden-Final-v1.mp4

Stay safe and enjoy the second week of the holidays.

Easter Holidays Week 2, by Miss Thwaites

Date: 11th Apr 2020 @ 3:29pm

Hello everyone,

What a gorgeous week it has been for our Easter holidays, I hope you have all been managing to get into the garden and enjoy the glorious sunshine we have been having. I have certainly used this weather to my advantage by finishing off my outdoor area at home. I had to tackle some VERY big roots and raise the beds ready to grow some plants and vegetables.

Why don't you tweet me @LostockGralamPr some of the things you have been up too?

Even though the sun is lovely, please make sure you are safe by wearing suncream!

For your second week of Easter I will attach a document that has some ideas of things you can do. This is the same document uploaded in last weeks blog.

I am missing you all so much and cannot wait until we are back in school together again.

Take care and look after each other!

Date: 6th Apr 2020 @ 10:15am

Good morning Toucans and happy holidays! I just want to say how proud I am of each of you. You have worked so hard over the past two weeks. You all definitely deserve a break. As you already know, as a school we have decided to set a blog weekly over the next 2 weeks with some ideas for home learning, however, most importantly, we would like you to have a rest! Enjoy the sunshine and spend time doing more of what makes you happy. I am planning to do some baking with Aoife and weed my garden!

I will attach the home learning plan for the Easter break and I would love to see what you get up to over the next couple of weeks on Twitter.

Take care, Mrs Whittingham, Mrs Downing and Mr Beswick.

Buenas Dias Swallows

So, this is our Easter holidays! It will be a strange Easter holidays this year won't it? I am in school today, enjoying the lovely sunshine outside. I am going to add some ideas that you can do over the next two weeks before you continue with your packs. Take a break from your home learning packs for the next two weeks as you have all been doing really well. I will keep you updated on our caterpillars, I posted a video on Twitter this weekend as they have gone into a J shape now and are dangling from the lid of their pot, they are getting ready to go inot their Pupa stage. It is very exciting to watch! I will also keep reading our story, we are nearly at the end now, only two chapters to go. I have really enjoyed reading this for you and each time, I imagine that you are all sat on the carpet with me. Thomas sometimes puts his teddies out for me to pretend they are you!

Have a lovely couple of weeks Swallows. I hope that the Easter Bunny comes with lots of lovely Easter eggs and treats. Enjoy being outside and with your families. I bet that you have all grown lots and will look so tall and grown up when I see you again.

Take care

Easter Holidays, by Mrs Campion

Date: 5th Apr 2020 @ 4:06pm

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Just wanted to pop on a quick message to say 'Thank you, thank you, thank you thank you!'. It has been lovely to see how everyone has embraced the activities on Tapestry. As well as hoping to support everyone at home with some ideas of things to do, you would not believe how much it means to see you all! Mrs Hoskins and I are missing the children dreadfully and it feels totally wrong not to see their lovely smiling faces every morning! I won't be uploading daily activities over the next two weeks, however, I will pop on a few ideas that you can dip into if you need a little inspiration.

With it nearly being Easter maybe you could use this week to look at the Easter story and do some Easter crafts. I'm hoping to make some Easter cards with the boys that we can post to friends and family. I have included two links to some nice child-friendly Easter stories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkNTU_Vv5Ew https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/stories/lets-celebrate-easterperformance

If you would like to do some reading remeber Oxford Owl has lots of ebooks that you can look at including a range of RWI books for every group and other stories. (Don't worry about the writing books over the holidays!) Username:owlsclass2020 password: Owls2020

Hope you have a lovely week spending quality time together.

Please get in touch if you need me at any point over the next two weeks - We are always here for you and our children.

Please take care of each other, stay safe & have fun!

lots of love Mrs Campion and Mrs Hoskins x

Easter Break Home Learning

As a school, we have decided that the daily blogs will not continue through the Easter holidays. We think it’s important you all have a break from this kind of learning and instead play, bake, garden, spend time together and relax!

Here are some ideas for home learning ideas that you could do over the two week break, if you’d like!

Week 1

Reading

Continue with some form of daily reading – you reading to your child, your child reading to you or whole-family reading time! Maybe you could try listening to some audio books on https://stories.audible.com/start-listen. They are free for as long as schools are closed!

Zoo Visit

Go on a virtual visit to Chester Zoo with your family. On 27th March, Chester Zoo held a virtual zoo day where the live streamed footage from different enclosures around the zoo. Easter holidays week 1, by Miss Thwaites

Date: 3rd Apr 2020 @ 5:22pm

Hello Skylarks and parents,

Well done with all the successful learnin gyou have completed over the past two weeks. It has been lovely to see what you have all been up to and it would be great for you to continue to tweet us with pictures of what you have been doing.

Even though these past two weeks have been really tough and probably feel more negative than positive, please think of 3 positive things you have done or achieved and hold on to them tight!

Parents, you have well and truly earned yourself two weeks off! I am in awe of you all how you have all rose to this challenge and tackled it remarkably well! You are all superstars!

Over the next two weeks, I will write a blog per week to keep you up to date. As you will be in lockdown during the next two weeks, it is not what we quite expected or hoped for over the Easter period. Attached are some different activities you could complete over the next two weeks.

The weather forecast looks nice and warm for the next two weeks so hopefully the sunshine will bring you some positivity and hope! Make sure you continue to follow the government guidelines and keep yourselves safe!

I know myself and Mrs Hulse are missing our fabulous Skylarks so much and we cannot wait to be back together again soon!

Continue tweeting us over the Easter break @LostockGralamPr, I love seeing what you are all up too!

Remember, we made letters for one another to support each other, if you have still not opened it well done and see if you can wait until you are feeling really sad or lonely as this will really help you to get through this difficult time.

I know you will be really missing friends and family, as I know I am! Keep smiling and keep shining Skylarks!

Stay safe and take care!

Buenas Dias Swallows

Happy Friday! Have a rest from doing any work over the weekend and relax. I think that the weather is going to be nicer on Sunday so hopefully we can all get outside. My boys have asked for us to have a BBQ! I'm not sure it is warm eough for that yet! It was so lovely to speak with your families yesterday and to hear some of your voices, I am in school on Monday so I will ring your parents if I missed them yesterday.

Did you manage to have a go at the indoor scavenger hunt? If not maybe you could have a go today? This situation is going to be a very important time in our history. It would be great for you when you are older to be able to look back on things that you were doing during the Corona Virus lockdown. Maybe you could make a scrap book, a time capsule or keep a dairy so that you can remember. I'm going to start a scrap book with my boys today. This might be a nice lttle job to do over the next two weeks.

I hope that you all have a lovely weekend and I will write to you again here over the Easter holidays. I think we are writing one blog each week during the Easter break. Swallows, just remember: When this is all over , we'll knock on our friends doors, and go to every party and say I love you more.

Love from Mrs Rice and Mrs Elson (who asks about you all every day and can't wait to see you) xxxx

Word of the day – elite

  1. In your home learning book write this word 3 times in your best handwriting.
  2. Specify which word class it is e.g. noun, adjective, pronoun etc.
  3. Find a synonym for this word
  4. Find an antonym for this word

Good morning my lovely Starlings heart

Wow, it is Friday again. Didn’t the weekend come around quickly? Well done to you all (and your adults) on having another fantastic week of home learning. Have you checked out our school Twitter feed recently?  If you click onto ‘Tweets & replies’, you will see lots of fantastic ideas which might inspire you to try something new too.

I woke up feeling excited today. Chester Zoo are doing another live virtual zoo day today, bringing the zoo to you. This can be accessed via both Facebook and Youtube by searching ‘Chester Zoo virtual zoo day’.

https://www.chesterzoo.org/virtual-zoo/

Why not use a page of your yellow book to write down interesting facts to teach your friends when we return to school or in your next Zoom video call? I will definitely be watching the Meerkat's and thinking about our amazing class story 'Meerkat Mail'.  Here is a video to remind you of the story.

To encourage you to get outdoors where possible, I have attached some maths activities to complete outdoors. I have also attached some Lego maths activities! Please see the blue tab at the bottom of today's blog.

Please keep following our weekly timetable and remember to keep up with your daily speed sound and Power Maths/ White Rose maths lessons where possible.

As it is the Easter holidays, there is no expectation that the children should be doing any work over the next two weeks. I will however update the blog once each week with ideas on how to keep busy over the holidays for those who want to get involved.

Good Morning Robins

Its Friday!! Well done children and well done parents – I am so proud of everything you have achieved this week and you should be too (no matter how big or small).

Like we did last Friday, I would like you to start your day by focussing on positive thoughts. Write down or simply think about 3 things that have made you smile or that you have enjoyed this week. I like to write them down so that when I am feeling a little bit sad or fed up, I can look back at them to put a smile on my face.

As we are approaching Easter, you could take a look at your RE project today and listen to or read the Easter story. There are also some lovely Easter colouring activities in your Home Learning Packs to keep you busy!

For anyone who would like to continue practising some spellings while we are off check out the following website. It has got all of the year 3/4 spelling rules, each with a word list and interactive games to help you learn them. You could even hold your own mini quiz with your adults at home J

https://spellingframe.co.uk/

As it is the Easter holidays, there is no expectation that the children should be doing any work over the next two weeks. I will however update the blog once each week with ideas on how to keep busy over the holidays for those who want to get involved.

Have a lovely Easter and don’t eat too many Easter eggs!!

Sending lots of love and well wishes,

I can't believe it is Friday again! Where did that week go?Well done to you all on another fantastic week at home.

You filled the week with lots of fabulous fun at home. Yesterday, it was lovely to see some of you sharing videos of you doing your speed sound lessons and lots of wonderful drawings and writing. Some of your sunflowers have started to grow which is very exciting. Please keep me posted. I wonder what you have planned today? I have promised Leo and Artie that we can do some baking today.

We went on an extremely long walk yesterday and have very achy legs today! Artie likes all the blossom on the trees. What do you see if you go out on a walk? It has been nice having time to do some of our favourite things at home and Leo and Artie have enjoyed playing with their favourite things! Maybe you could take photographs of your favourite things at home and send them to me on Tapestry?

Grown ups-I saw this lovely idea online for things to do when the children say they are bored at home(there are cleaning jobs in there too!) Might be something else to try at home.

I miss you all lots but keep sending your lovely pictures and videos to Tapestry. Keep smiling lovely Owls!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I will catch up with you on Monday. xx

You will never have this day again. So make it count”

Message from Mrs Powell

Good morning children,

It may not feel like it but we are all very lucky to have each other.  What are you going to do today to make it different from yesterday, we never get today again.  What will you do today?  How will you use it?  Will you draw a picture?  Do some PE?  Help someone at home?  I’m keeping a diary so that I can remember how I made each day count, could you?

Stay safe and remember this: “I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”

Buenas Dias Swallows

I am in school today! It feels very strange without you all being here. I hope that you are all ok and having fun. Look out for Twitter today as I will pop the next part of our story on. The caterpillars are doing really well, they are 5cm now! I will also film them again for you later today when I get home. Have you done any word searches from your pack yet? Maybe you could make one of your own with these words:

habitat, Amazon, animal, home, forest, trees.

I have found a little hunt that you could do at home. Have fun with this one then perhaps you could make a different one for your family to do?

Date: 2nd Apr 2020 @ 8:58am

Hello Starlings

How are you this morning? It is lovely to see the sun shining once again this morning, isn’t it? What exciting adventures have you got planned for today?

I hope you are all continuing to keep active while spending more time at home. I am finding that a little bit of fresh air and some exercise improves my mood in a matter of minutes. Are you still remembering to do your Joe Wick’s PE lesson on YouTube? If you would like to try something new this week, have a look at the following active activities to brighten up your day:

I know how much Starlings enjoy being scientists so have attached some 10 activities that you can use at home to help children develop their science, technology, engineering and maths skills. These activities are easy to resource and provide children with the stimulus to talk about the world around them. If you see a link, you can explore how to extend these activities, you will need to sign up, for free, to access these materials. Don’t forget to share your work on social media #ScienceFromHome  @LostockGralamPr

Enjoy!

Please keep following our weekly timetable and remember to keep up with your daily speed sound and Power Maths/ White Rose maths lessons where possible. I am so proud of you!

Sending lots of love and hugs. Keep smiling!

Miss Gillam

P.S Have you played any board games yet? Let’s Tweet the games we play to help inspire others.

Good Morning and Happy Thursday J

Can you believe it’s Thursday already? I certainly can’t!

I was feeling very tired this morning so I dragged myself out for a run to help kick start my day. It has definitely made me feel so much better! I’m going to play some fetch with Teddy in the garden now as he isn’t allowed out on walks just yet. How are you going to start your day?

Maybe during your ‘screen time’ today you could have a look at some maths games on https://www.topmarks.co.uk/

To encourage you to get outdoors where possible I have attached some lovely maths activities to complete outside in nature. I have also attached some maths activities using Lego that you might enjoy!

Stay positive and keep smiling! I can’t wait to see you all again!!

Sending lots of love and hugs

Morning and happy Thursday Owls.

What have you got planned for today?

We are going to draw some pictures today for Grandma, Grandad and Granny. We haven't seen them for a while so thought we would draw some nice pictures and walk to the post box to post them today.

The weather isn't quite as sunny as it has been but we have still been trying to enjoy the garden as much as we can. The boys like digging in my sleepers to see what bugs they can find.

It is lovely to see all the lovely things you are doing, Some of you are doing some wonderful baking that looks absolutely delicious. Maybe you could send me some of your favourite recipes? Some of you have sent some lovely pictures of the writing you have done in your Get Writing books. It is wonderful.

Thank you to everyone who has sent a video for mystery reader. Is is lovely to share a different special Owl each night sharing a story for bedtime. If you would like to be one please send a video on Tapestry.

Hope you have a wonderful day and keep smiling Owls.

Monday 20th April

Hello Team Goldfinch

It’s lovely to be back with you and I hope you had as much fun as possible this Easter. I have loved seeing some of the things you have Tweeted or e-mailed me.

In my house, we have been enjoying different ways of staying fit: Joe Wicks, Go Noodle, 5-A-Day, running, walking, cycling and the latest: we all write 2 exercises on different pieces of scrap card, put them out in the garden and make our own circuit course with 30 seconds per activity. (The mountain climbers are my biggest challenge!)

We have also enjoyed some garden pamper time with cucumber over our eyes and soaking our feet! Bliss! The girls even gave me rainbow painted toenails!

Over the past week we finished our Food Web which we are really proud of… we just ran out of string to link up the last few animals. (I wonder whether you could see which ones we still need to string together)

School Jobs:

Weekly guide: (attached as 'Summer 1: Weekly plan and resources)

This week I have set a weekly guide again with focus areas to work on. I have changed it slightly (to hopefully be more manageable) with one project as a topic focus which the writing activities are linked to. I’m going to set a different one each week- but this might take longer than a week and there are no deadlines to any of this work. As always- do what is right for you, when it is right for you. The most important thing is calm, happy children.

Maths:

I have trialed the I SEE Maths with both of my girls (Y4 and Y6) and really like it. Gareth does the teaching for you and you don’t need to print anything off. My girls just recorded any working out in their work books. There are even answers provided and the video link guides you through the process and how to record it. I would highly recommend starting at the beginning (Mon 23rd March) as the lessons follow on from each other and recap. We have been doing a lesson every other day (ish) Give it a go and see how you get on. http://www.iseemaths.com/lessons34/

Spelling: (attached)

I am going to set the weekly spelling lists that you are used to sticking in your diaries each week. (you don’t need to print them) and each week I will include ideas of how to practise them. Sometimes they will be a recap of spelling patterns we have already covered and sometimes they might be topic linked. Remember you have loads of ideas about how to practise your spellings.

Topic Focus: Water Cycle

See attached timetable and attachments for all the links, resources and ideas. This is a topic that you might do a little bit of over different days. It might take a week, it might take longer- it really doesn't matter. My timetable guide might help you to organise how to split up the activities.

Finally for today: Parents this is a card a very good friend of mine sent me a few years ago. I keep it on my noticeboard to make me smile and thought you would like it too!

Stay strong... you are doing an amazing job.

Missing you lots and looking forward to blogging tomorrow,

Mrs Evans x

Hello Goldfinches,

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. In my house we began to start thinking about Easter and talked about the Easter story together whilst some Easter decorations and deciding who to make cards for this year as we won't be seeing anyone. I followed Mrs Brennan's link (last fri Blog)  How to Blow Eggs guide and managed to successfully blow some eggs ready for decorating for the first time ever! We've been out in the garden lots again and finding quiet places with not many people for walks and bikerides.  We have been listening to audible stories (which are free while schools are shut) for a bit of chill out time. Amelie is getting in to 'The Girl Who Walked on Air' Do you remember doing a little extract of this during guided reading one week? Check out Mrs O'Marah's book reccomendations thiw week on Twitter too.

Our seeds are rapidly growing now and are looking like they are ready to plant outside soon. Which of you green fingered Goldfinches can help me to work out which seeling is which? I will add these photos to Twitter and you can tell me what you think on there please! Remember I planted Pumpkins, Peas and Beans.

Over the next 2 weeks we are going to be focussing as a whole school on Easter and, very importantly, having the chance to relax.

If you still would like things to do and have been enjoying the projects I have set for you then please continue to work on your volcanoes, river research and artwork, habitats and food chains, webs and work in your Home Learning Pack. I have added resources and links to the Week 3 timetable and to the Goldfinch Class Page in case you need any of them. I have loved seeing all of the things you have been doing at home over the last few weeks. Please keep posting on Twitter if you would like to share any of the things you are enjoying doing/have achieved.

Remember the Lego and Drawing challenges are on the Goldfinch class page too!

Much love to you all- keep up the great work and have fun, be polite and resepectful and stay safe at home. I will Blog again next week so bye for now.

Easter Break Home Learning- message from the Lostock Team

Relive this experience by visiting the Chester Zoo YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZ9UagJLiMdBIFOHYwT7eLA

Easter Project

Remind yourself of the Easter story on YouTube using the following links:

What is Easter? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK2o-mhBfuc&list=PLcvEcrsF_9zK0q_Ey3yl7k5LA5v1M7NNs&index=28&t=0s

The Easter Story https://www.topmarks.co.uk/easter/easterstory.aspx

Events of Good Friday https://www.truetube.co.uk/film/last-supper-2014

Easter Project: Activities you could have a go at this week:

Make an Easter card for your family or friends using colour to show the symbolic meaning of the story. Use bright, happy colours to represent the happiness that Jesus came back to life and a small amount of dark colour (a cross possibly) to show the sadness from the story too.

Enjoy!

Today is the 1st day of a new month, so the date has a 4 in the middle as April is the 4th month. It is April Fool's Day where people can play little tricks on each other. Can you trick someone today? cheeky

Have you been able to listen to me reading The Enchanted Wood on Twitter? I can only upload short videos at a time so can usually read 2 pages each time I tweet. Thomas and Will have been filming me, that's why the top of my head sometimes disappears or the camera wobbles a bit!

It is wet outside today, so the perfect day for snuggling up with a story, drawing, watching a film, making a Lego model or doing a couple of pieces of work from your pack!

Take a look at Gareth Metcalf's website, he is a teacher near to us who is putting daily maths lessons on line. We are going to do them today, they are really good and he uses the bar model and part part whole like we do. http://www.iseemaths.com/home-lessons/

I'm off now to make breakfast, chocoloate brioche today for the boys and worms, slugs and spiders for me cheekycheeky Just joking....April Fool's!! I'm really having yougurt with fruit (not as much fun!). I wonder what you have had today? Remember to keep saying por favor (please) gracias (thank you) and de nada (you're welcome) at home.

I miss you and am thinking about you every day. Have fun, watch Twitter for our next story read.

A message from Mrs Powell

“You’re off to great places. Today is your day.” – Dr. Seuss

Dear children, Where do you dream of going? What do you want to do? Just because we can’t visit new places doesn’t mean we can’t think about what we would like to do and where we could like to visit. This saying also means you can do great things. What great thing can do today? This can be anything, big or small it is still an achievement.
